Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is just going from strength to strength as the 27-year old claimed another individual award after being named Players’ Player of the Year at the inaugural Liverpool Players’ Awards Dinner.
The Uruguayan, who recently racked up a prestigious double by snagging both the PFA Player of the Year and the Football Writers Association Player of the Year, also made off with Supporters Player of the Year and Goal of the Season earlier in the night. With 31-goals and counting to his name, he was an obvious choice for Reds supporters everywhere and his stunning 40-yard strike against Norwich City was a shoe-in for the gong despite a bevy of worthy candidates.
Introduced by Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard as “being in a league of his own”, Suarez proceeded to deliver an emotional thanks, pointing out how important this award is because it signified that his team-mates recognized the work he put in on the pitch. Well, to be fair, they’d have to be blind not to. With the Reds heading into the last game of the season, they remain in the title picture and it’s safe to say that the Uruguayan has played a massive role in that with almost as many goals created as scored.
Congratulations yet again, Luis.
