Fabio Borini and Jose Enrique Still Expected to Leave Anfield Before Transfer Window Closes
With Mario Balotelli spending the season on loan with Italian side AC Milan and Lazar Markovic doing the same with Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, Liverpool will look to trim their squad further ahead of the transfer window closing with both Fabio Borini and Jose Enrique expected to depart before deadline day is over.
There are rumours galore regarding the Italian with a move to Italian side Inter Milan rumoured to be on the go with the Nerazzurri apparently tabling an offer of £6mil for the unwanted 24-year old. That, of course, is a little shy of what the Reds value him at and less than what Sunderland, who are known to be looking for additions up top, are willing to spend with the Black Cats apparently willing to shell out £8mil to bring him back to the Stadium of Light.
Borini spent his most successful spell in the Premier League with the Wearside club two seasons ago, scoring 7-league goals in 32-appearances during a season long loan with Sunderland. Liverpool fans will do well to forget that the money on the table is about £6mil shy of what they were willing to pay for him last summer, but the Italian turned down the opportunity to make the move permanent, instead deciding to fight for his place at Anfield — a decision that he obviously regrets.
Another player who’s looking set to make for the exit door is fullback Jose Enrique with the Spaniard reportedly being told he’s surplus to requirements at Anfield. West Bromwich Albion are rumoured to have reignited their interest in the 29-year old, but it’s believed he’ll need Baggies boss Tony Pulis to convince him it’s not a step down before he’ll consider making a move to the Hawthorns. Bemoaning the lack of money on offer from other teams, Enrique has said that he’d be willing to stay on Merseyside and wait for his chance to play despite admitting that he’s been alienated by boss Brendan Rodgers.
