£27million star opens door to Liverpool move
Liverpool were heavily linked with German international Timo Werner in the summer transfer window but eventually, the center forward agreed a new deal with RB Leipzig.
However, the 23-year-old striker has recently stated that in future, he could move away from the Bundesliga side.
News – Report – Liverpool interested in signing £90million attacker next summer – Face competition
In a exclusive interview with Sport Buzzer, Werner was asked whether he would like to move to a foreign club in future. The Kaiser replied:
“I do not exclude anything.”
According to reports (Mirror Sport), if he opts to move outside Germany, then Liverpool are considered to be favorites to hire his services. The former Stuttgart striker has got a release clause of just 30 million euros (£27million) in his contract (Kicker via Mirror Sport).
In all fairness, 30 million euros is a very low clause and any top club would have no problem in paying that sum.
Werner is a pacy center forward, who had a brilliant campaign with Leipzig last season. In all competitions, he made 37 appearances, netted 19 goals and also provided 10 assists. This season, he has so far scored 2 goals in as many league games.
As far as his international career is concerned, so far, he has played 25 times for Germany and scored 10 goals.
For now, Liverpool have Firmino as their main center forward. The Brazilian is irreplaceable in the starting XI and has been sensational under the guidance of Klopp. On the other hand, in the backup, we have Origi, who has done well whenever given the chance.
Have your say – Do Liverpool need a new striker? Should they splash the cash to sign Werner?
