Trio return – Liverpool’s strongest possible 4-3-3 XI vs Salzburg
Liverpool will face Salzburg away from home in their final group stage game of this season’s Champions League.
The reigning European Champions only need a point to move to the next round. Three points will guarantee the Reds top spot but it must be remembered that a defeat could knock them out of the tournament.

Salzburg have scored for fun in the current campaign and the Merseysiders have not been strong at the back. We have not kept a clean sheet in the UCL this term and conceded 8 goals in 5 fixtures so far.
Klopp’s men did keep a clean sheet in the last league game vs Bournemouth and it was perhaps the most comfortable game we have played in the current campaign.
Salzburg, who must win to qualify, are a different threat, they scored five at the weekend and have the quality to unsettle our back-line. Not to forget, the Austrian club scored three goals at Anfield back in October.
As far as Liverpool’s team news is concerned, our German boss could make three changes to the squad that started vs the Cherries on Saturday.
In-form Sadio Mane was rested and he should return to start with Salah and Firmino in the attack.
Oxlade-Chamberlain started on the left flank vs Bournemouth. With Mane returning to take his place, the England international, who is our leading goalscorer in this season’s UCL, could start in the midfield with Henderson and Wijnaldum.
In the back-line, Lovren limped off injured in the last game but Klopp said it was nothing serious. So, the Croatian might start with Van Dijk in the central defense in front of Alisson. Robertson should start in the LB role and Alexander-Arnold should replace Gomez to start in the right back position.
