Liverpool famously beat Crystal Palace 9-0 all those years ago and though we might not see a scoreline of that magnitude, the Reds are cruising at halftime with three good goals to their names.

A team effort saw Luis Suarez score his first goal at Anfield this season after linkup play between him, Victor Moses and Jose Enrique saw the Uruguayan smack the ball past Palace ‘keeper Julián Speroni. It would be only moments later when a wonderful individual effort from Daniel Sturridge made it a pair and, before the break, a controversial penalty call would send Steven Gerrard to the spot where the skipper would duly convert to make it a trio of goals for Brendan Rodgers men.

Palace boss Ian Holloway will have everything to do at halftime to avoid this turning into a real rout. The Reds can go top of the league — if only temporarily — if they take full points here today while Palace, who currently sit second from bottom, don’t look like they’re going to be climbing out of the relegation zone before the international break.
