CONFIRMED: Sterling and Flanagan Start Against Everton

It’s a slight change for Liverpool from this weekends win against AFC Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup with winger Raheem Sterling and fullback Jon Flanagan returning to the starting line-up.

Flanagan, who has been out since injuring himself against Cardiff City in December, makes a return to to the starting line-up in place of Martin Kelly. On-loan Valencia defender Aly Cissokho holds down his spot on the opposite flank, while Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure start in the heart of the Reds defence in front of Simon Mignolet who is also recalled to the starting eleven after Reds boss Brendan Rodgers handed Australian ‘keeper Brad Jones a rare start in the 2-0 win against the Cherries on Saturday.

The Liverpool boss has little choice but to name a two man midfield of Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson with Joe Allen not fit enough to start. In front of them, Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling occupy the flanks with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge leading the attack.

From the bench, Rodgers has ‘keeper Brad Jones, defender Martin Kelly, midfielders Jordan Ibe, Brad Smith, Victor Moses and Spanish attackers Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto.

On the other side of the park, Everton boss Roberto Martinez has named Tim Howard between the sticks with Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka, John Stones and Antolín Alcaraz making up the backline. Midfield is made up of James McCarthy, Gareth Barry, Steven Pienaar and Ross Barkley, while in attack, the Spaniard has named Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku.

In reserve, Martinez has ‘keeper Joel Robles, Tony Hibbert, new winger Aiden McGeady, Steven Naismith, Magaye Gueye, Leon Osman and defender Luke Garbutt.
