For those of us that can’t make it to the match, websites like YouTube are great for a little snippet of unfiltered atmosphere from the stands — and this one, immediately following Steven Gerrard’s winner against Southampton on Saturday is no exception.
The Reds recorded their first win on the South coast in eleven years in fine fashion to keep themselves very much in the title race. Luis Suarez snapped his mini-drought to open the scoring and Raheem Sterling scored within 80-seconds of making a second half appearance from the bench before the Skipper sealed the deal from the penalty spot after Suarez was upended by Jose Fonte.
While the team was doing the business on the pitch, the travelling Kop was holding their own in a packed St. Mary’s stadium and were quite regularly outsinging the home supporters — with We Are Liverpool featuring quite prominently throughout the 90-minutes. The song, like the Reds, has been enjoying a renaissance as of late and should Brendan Rodgers side go on to claim their first league championship of the Premier League era, it’ll likely be to the strains of this catchy number.
