VIDEO: Rickie Lambert’s Awkward Interview Following Liverpool Medical

It must have been so hard for him to not give it all away; seventeen years after being released from Liverpool as a teenager, Southampton striker Rickie Lambert successfully completed a medical with his boyhood club ahead of completing a £4mil move that’s due to be announced tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the 32-year old England man is unable to say anything until then — and you can tell that makes him really uncomfortable. Dodging the questions of the Sky Sports reporter as best as he can, Lambert stumbles through a series of rather poignant questions with all the grace of a new born deer. “Hopefully, mate, I’ll be able to speak to you properly about it on Monday” he says while rubbing his face in exasperation.

This, of course, can’t be easy. It’s hard not to feel for Rickie; ambushed in an airport and bombarded by questions the reporter already knows he can’t answer. You have to give him credit for remaining friendly and answering as best he can. Thankfully, he’ll be able to say one thing or another on Monday. Hopefully, it won’t be quite as painful to get out…
