Liverpool Legend Robbie Fowler Praises “Both Footed” Adam Lallana Signing

Robbie approves

When Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler opens his mouth, people stand-up and take notice. The retired Red, who scored 183-goals during two spells with the club, has praised boss Brendan Rodgers capture of Adam Lallana, calling him a “brilliant” player.

It took a bit of doing, but the Anfield outfit finally got their man and officially announced his move from Southampton on Sunday. The 26-year old has signed a long term contract with the Premier League runners up and Fowler couldn’t be happier. “I think he’s a brilliant player – and I’m not just saying that because he’s a Liverpool player now,” he told the official website. “I enjoyed watching him last year at Southampton. I think he’s got the ability to change tight games.”

The Reds, who pushed eventual champions Manchester City to the final match of the season, scored 101-goals over the course of the campaign and sealed their first Champions League berth since 2009. Despite the massive fire-power at their disposal, Rodgers side had a hard time breaking down packed defences and Fowler can see Lallana helping out with that.

“He’s both footed and can play anywhere along the midfield or the front” he continued. “I don’t think we’ve seen this type of player for a long time in the Premier League where he’s got the ability to make space with a little turn or a little flick.” Sometimes a bit of skill is exactly what you need to find a breakthrough and Kopites everywhere will be looking forward to watching him show-off the kind of skills that peaked Liverpool’s interest in the first place — both domestically and in Europe as well.

If there’s one thing that Rodgers likes, it’s a versatile player, and with the Reds about to dip their toes back into Europe’s biggest club competition, we could see Lallana play a number of different roles. “I really enjoyed watching him last year” enthused Fowler. “Brendan has got options as to where he can play him.”

And he’ll enjoying taking full advantage of that…
