Sevilla Boss Emery Prepared for Moreno to Leave and Aspas to Arrive

Outgoing and incoming?

It’s starting to look like Liverpool’s on again off again move for Sevilla fullback Alberto Moreno is back on in a big way as the boss of the La Liga side admitted that he’s preparing to lose the promising defender over the summer.

The Reds reached an impasse with the Spanish side earlier in the summer as the fee for him magically increased the closer the deal became the being finalized. Way back when this little saga was first starting out, both Suso and Iago Aspas were offered in part exchange, but their interest was in a straight cash deal only. Now that the Andalusian outfit have seen a move for Aspas rebuffed, it’s sounding like Sevilla boss Unai Emery is starting to see the benefits of this particular bit of business.

“I see him as a Sevillista, and hopefully he will stay at Sevilla. We count on him, I hope to improve Alberto, he took a major leap and we have to work with him to help him to continue to improve” he told Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo before admitting that he’s making plans for if and when he departs. “If something comes up during the transfer market we are prepared for any eventuality.”

That “eventuality” could very well see Aspas move in the opposite direction with the misfit striker having a difficult time breaking into the Reds first team during his first season in England. “He is a player that exploded at Celta and went to England. But there he has not been involved. He fits the profile of what we need but the negotiation with Liverpool is not easy” Emery continued. He’s a player that, if you could sign him, would be a good addition.”
