Following the confirmation last night that Liverpool and Sevilla have finally reached an agreement over a fee for fullback Alberto Moreno, the 22-year old was snapped at Melwood earlier in the day ahead of a medical with the Anfield outfit.
Being Sevilla born and bred, the move obviously comes with a bit of baggage. “I am living a strange situation because I’m leaving the club of my life,” he told ABC Sevilla following a tearful goodbye to his colleagues and the fans in Cardiff last night where his side lost out to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. “(I have) many feelings together. What happened on the pitch, with the fans, will remain forever etched on me and I could not help but mourn (his departure) because I did not expect it. First came the parting with colleagues, then with the fans…all very complicated. Liverpool are a great team and of course I’m super-motivated. I hope things go well.”
It’s been a summer long chase for the Spanish defender with multiple bids being rejected by the Andalusian side. Although he’s yet to put pen to paper quite yet — well, that we know about anyways — the highly rated fullback is slated to be Reds boss Brendan Rodgers eighth signing of the summer.
