Alberto Moreno Deal Should Be Completed “Soon”

In what has easily been one of the most frustrating transfer saga’s in recent history, Liverpool’s move for Alberto Moreno should be completed “soon” according to Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.
It looked like it was all wrapped up when the 22-year old was spotted outside of Melwood ahead of a medical with the Anfield outfit. After a summer of haggling and bickering, the two sides finally came to an agreement on a £12mil + add-ons fee for the talented defender. Still, the deal has yet to be ratified and officially Moreno remains a Sevilla player despite being spotted training with his new team ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener with Southampton. Although he’ll play no part in it, it’s an encouraging sign — even if things are moving quite a bit slower than expected.
“Hopefully that will be completed very soon” Rodgers told the Liverpool ECHO when asked when the Moreno deal would be officially announced. “He will be a fantastic signing if that happens.”
While the Northern Irishman is likely just being pragmatic with the whole “if” thing, it does beg the question what the hold-up is. Sevilla have been notoriously hard to bargain with over the course of the summer and though it’s likely nothing to be concerned about, the thought that there could be some problem over payment structure or his medical is worrying. This will all be much more reassuring when there’s awkward pictures of him plastered all over the official site…
