Despite earning themselves all three points during yesterday’s season opener at Anfield, the departure of Luis Suarez inevtiably reared it’s ugly head during Reds boss Brendan Rodgers post match press conference with the Northern Irishman revealing his former charge sent him a text message wishing him and the side luck ahead of kick-off.

Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge scored on either side of the half to cancel out Nathaniel Clyne’s equalizer and insure Rodgers third season in the Anfield hot seat started in winning fashion. Although it’s hard to picture the Uruguayan really impressing himself on the proceedings, the topic was quickly broached with the Liverpool manager quick to re-iterated that “no one player can be bigger than Liverpool Football Club” and that the 27-year old is now a “friend of Liverpool”.

Suarez, who’s expected to play for Barcelona for the first time in a friendly after having portions of his four month ban for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup overturned, remains a popular figure on Merseyside despite his departure from the club. Exactly what he said to Rodgers remains pre-match unknown though and when quiered by a curious journo, the Northern Irishman said “It said, ”don’t be so nosy!” to uproarious laughter.

Well, that settles that then.
