Franz Beckenbauer Thinks Marco Reus Will Leave Borussia Dortmund

As the end of the transfer window inches closer and closer, speculation regarding the future of highly rated Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus continues to ratchet up with the 25-year yet to sign a new contract at the Bundesliga club.
With his future very much up in the air, title rivals Bayern Munich — who have tempted a number of high profile players away from their bitter rivals over the last couple of seasons — continue to retain an interest in securing his services along with a host of other top level clubs. Although Dortmund continue to insist that not only is he not for sale, but that the Bavarian’s should quit trying to unsettle him, that hasn’t stopped Franz Beckenbauer from weighing in on the subject.
“I can imagine him at Bayern very well. If you can get a player of his class, you need to try it” said the Bayern Munich president of Reus. “If he doesn’t go to Bayern in 2015, he will probably go to another big club like Real Madrid or Manchester United.”
Despite never publicly acknowledging any interest in signing the player, Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for the 25-year old and with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirming that they’re not only still in the market for a couple of players, but also have money to spend, a move could very well materialize before the window closes — something that wouldn’t surprise Beckenbauer. “Dortmund will probably not be able to hold on to him” he continued. “I can understand why Dortmund don’t like discussion about Reus.”
