Aly Cissokho Looking Forward to “Special” Anfield Return

He may not have done much of note during his season long loan at Liverpool, but Aston Villa fullback Aly Cissokho is looking forward to returning to Anfield when he’ll line up on the opposite side of the pitch on Saturday evening.
In the past, the experienced defender has always spoken highly of the Reds and not much has changed even though he’s wearing a different shirt. “Of course, when you play against your last team it is a special occasion,” he told Villa’s official website leading up to tomorrow’s trip to Merseyside. “It should be a big atmosphere and it is going to be good to face my old team-mates. I hope we are going to keep going like we have been over the past few weeks and continue our good form.”
The Reds decided not to take up the option to make the French defenders move permanent over the summer, instead bringing in youngster Alberto Moreno to fill the void on the left. Since trading La Liga side Valencia for the Villains, the 26-year old has enjoyed an impressive start to the season with his new side with the Birmingham club going into the weekend in third place — a spot in the table that he’d rather build on than surrender.
“This year we have started well. We are confident. We haven’t lost any games yet” continued Cissokho. “We are focused in our work. We just need to do what we have done in the last three league games and be strong defensively. It is going to be a good occasion. It would be good to keep that success going.”
