England Boss Roy Hodgson Looks for Peace Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

The war of words between England boss Roy Hodgson and the Liverpool hierarchy over the handling of the fitness of Reds duo Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling when they’re with the national team doesn’t look like abating anytime soon, but various media sources are reporting that the former Reds manager is looking to clear the air with the Anfield outfit after their meeting with Queens Park Rangers this Sunday.
The England boss will be on hand to take in the fixture at Loftus Road when the Premier League resumes this weekend and it’s being reported that his comments on Sterling, his subsequent shots at Liverpool’s individualized training methods as well as the handling of Sturridge — who was injured training with the Three Lions last month — will all be discussed.
“I am actually quite upset, not with the manager as such, but that the aftermath has been a lot of people criticising Raheem Sterling – who is probably in the top two or three players in our country and we need him to be at his best – for making quite a brave decision” said Mancheser City and England midfielder Frank Lampard — the latest professional footballer to wade into the fray. “I think we need to get behind him. Whether it is right or wrong, I don’t know, but we are all individuals and he made that call.”
Liverpool and Roy Hodgson haven’t seen eye to eye on a number of issues since the former Reds manager took over the international set-up and the injury Sturridge picked up and Sterling’s claims that he was tired in the build-up to England’s Euro-2016 qualifier with Estonia has only intensified matters.
We’ll see if anything is resolved Sunday evening…
