Jordan Henderson Targeting Double Figures

Even before our recent goal drought started in earnest, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insisted that more players need to start contributing in front of net and newly appointed vice-captain Jordan Henderson is taking those words to heart.
“I think it is achievable,” said the 24-year old when asked if scoring ten or more this season is a realistic target for him in the Liverpool set-up. “I still think I need to improve in that area, which I’ve said many times before. I need to keep getting better so I continue to work on that. I need to keep getting in the right areas to score goals. Hopefully I can improve on last season and get into double figures.”
The former Sunderland man opened his account for the year by scoring the winner against West Bromwich Albion just before the international break. Almost as important as that, the midfielder played creator as Adam Lallana got off the mark in the famous red shirt — something that makes the 24-year old just as happy as scoring himself.
“In the conversations I’ve had with the manager, he always wants me to get forward – whatever position I play in – and try to be a threat on goal. I need to keep doing that, it doesn’t matter from what position” he continued before re-iterating that he’s just as happy creating as he is scoring. “Both are very good for me. It’s good to assist and give other people a chance to score, and obviously it’s nice to score yourself as well.”
