Jordan Henderson Reportedly Ready to Sign New Five Year Deal

Time to get paid

Liverpool may have come up short trying to get outgoing club captain Steven Gerrard the send-off he deserves, but if breaking reports in the media are to be believed, they’ve now secured the future of his heir apparent in Jordan Henderson.

Although he never once gave any indication that he was looking to leave Anfield, contract negotiations between the club and the 24-year old midfielder have been rumbling on since the fall with the player himself confirming not that long ago that talks were ongoing. Now, in the wake of their FA Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Aston Villa on Sunday, it sounds like he’s ready to tie down his long term future to the Reds — and get a significant pay-bump in the process.

Fine details differ from publication to publication, but everyone can seem to agree that Henderson is in line for a new five year deal that’ll pay him somewhere in the region of £100,000k per week. That, of course, is quite the hike with the former Sunderland man currently on a mere £55,000k and attracting interest from all the big spenders. While that last line may have a touch of sarcasm to it, Liverpool obvious recognize his potential and want to make sure that he meets it while wearing the famous red shirt.

Along with the vice-captain, youngster Jordon Ibe also looks set to sign a new long-term deal with the Anfield outfit that will see his salary get a healthy leg-up as well, but Raheem Sterling, who was anonymous in the loss to the Villans at the weekend, is yet to budge on his on-going contract stalemate with talks set to resume this summer. That being said, the club is expected to announce Henderson’s deal later this week — hopefully that’ll help lift the gloom.
