Mamadou Sakho Reaffirms Liverpool Commitment

While it’s a very different story coming out of the mouth of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, the Slovakian’s partner in crime Mamadou Sakho has reaffirmed his commitment to the Reds going in to what’s sure to be a busy period filled with comings and goings at Anfield.

“Not at all, I feel good at Liverpool, I play,” he told the press when asked if he’s expecting to leave Merseyside this summer following a disastrous end to a campaign that saw the Reds fail to finish in the top four or secure any silverware. “Yes, I had many physical problems this season, but I’m fit, I have my spot, and I produced good performances despite everything.”

Problems in front of the net at both ends of the pitch has led to rumours of a complete squad overhaul in the coming months and the rumour mill has been busy linking the Reds with anyone and everyone that even has a hint of a pulse or promise. Attackers tend to get all the press, but a reported interest in highly rated Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez and their very real pursuit of Southampton fullback Nathaniel Clyne has given the case for the defence an added push.

It’s still early days and there’s no telling exactly how the squad will shape up come August, but Sakho isn’t concerning himself with that right now — he has a point to prove in the Premier League and he wants to do it at Anfield. “I like Liverpool, next season I’ll still be a Red, because I still have to prove many things over there,” continued the 25-year old, speaking ahead of France’s friendly with Albania on Sunday.. “I like the club, it’s a young and skilled team. I hope to achieve great things with this club.”
