Wisdom Joins the Canaries on Loan, Flanagan Edging Closer to Return
There were whispers about it earlier in the week and now it’s been confirmed with Liverpool’s official website reporting that defender Andre Wisdom has been loaned to recently promoted Premier League side Norwich City for the upcoming campaign.
“Andre fits our profile in terms of getting hungry players in who want to make their way in the game,” said Canaries boss Alex Neil who was also able to announce the signing of Hull City winger Alex Brady after a protracted chase ended with the 23-year old joining Wisdom at Carrow Road on a three-year deal. “It will add to the competition for places as he’s a flexible player.”
Wisdom had only just signed a new five year deal with the Reds following a successful loan spell with West Bromwich Albion last year, and though he looked set to remain with the Anfield outfit for the coming campaign, the arrival of highly rated youngster Joe Gomez from Charlton Athletic, coupled with the positive news regarding the recovery of fullback Jon Flanagan from his recent knee surgery, looks to have squeezed him out of a place in the squad.
Although he didn’t play a single match for the Reds last year, Flanagan remains highly rated around Anfield and, according to his Instagram profile, appears to be inching closer to a return. The 22-year old looked ready to get back to business at the tail end of last season only to have his dreams dashed with the news that he’d need to go under the knife to correct a long-standing problem with his knee. “Great recovery session with @Emmanuel after a tough session,” he wrote on the photo-sharing app along with a picture of him and his trainer. Here’s to hoping he’ll be pushing Nathaniel Clyne for a starting spot sooner rather than later.
Can’t wait to have Flanno back. And I think the loans the right move for Wisdom. Just wish he gets played as a CB.
hope Flanno makes the left back spot his. it appears that Lucas Digne not coming, as there is no further news about him. Moreno is bullshit.
