Brazil Legend Talks Up Roberto Firmino, Puts Him On Par with World’s Best Players
It may have taken Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino a little while to get his bearings since making a big money move from German club Hoffenheim over the summer, but with a number of good performances under his belt, the 24-yer old is starting to show why the Reds shelled out all that money for him — something that doesn’t surprise Brazil legend Ronaldinho at all.
“I didn’t ever question if he would be a great player for Liverpool, I knew that he would be,” the former Barcelona and AC Milan attacker told the Mirror in a recent interview. “He’s one of the best at what he does in the world. He’s in the same class as Ozil, Silva, Iniesta, and all the other great players who play that role,” he continued, lavishing praise on his compatriot. “He’s the player that I’m sure Klopp will build his new Liverpool team around.”
Struggling in front of the net, the Reds have seen their bid to return to the lucrative fields of the Champions League next season all but peter out, but with a young, up and coming side at his disposal and money to spend, Ronaldinho believes the ex-Borussia Dortmund will be looking to bring in some new faces to compliment the attacking prowess of Firmino.
“Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world, he will know that Liverpool need better players, he will know that Firmino will need better players around him to get the most out of his game,” continued the 35-year old before tipping the Reds to rise to the top of the pack with the German in charge. “I’m sure when he joined Liverpool, Klopp was promised he could bring in his own players, and with Firmino at the centre of the team, there’s no reason Liverpool cannot challenge once again.”
