Simon Mignolet Puts Wembley Trip Off to One Side to Focus on Europa League

When the League Cup final rolls around next weekend, punters around the world will be interested in the bonus code for topbet sportsbook as the buzz for the meeting with Manchester City builds, but with the second leg of Liverpool’s Europa League Round of 32 meeting with German club FC Augsburg still to come, Reds ‘keeper Simon Mignolet is putting dreams of running out at Wembley off to one side to focus on the task at hand.

“There is no point in looking forward to the League Cup final,” he said following the final whistle. “We are professional footballers and you just have to take every game as it comes. The next game is always the most important. It is a cliche but it is as true as it can be,” continued the shot-stopper. “With all the games we have been playing we are used to playing two games in a week. We have seven days to recover – which is a change from what we have done recently. We have to get on with it, look at the things we can do better and then I am sure we can do the business at Anfield when we get the fans behind us.”

Although both sides had their chances to score, the return of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to his native Germany was a bit of a dire affair with both ‘keepers well protected throughout. With that being said, considering the Reds fragile backline, a clean-sheet is nothing to turn your nose up at.

“We defended well and that is pleasing,” explained Mignolet. “That is why we are still in this tie having not conceded away from home. That is a positive thing. You have to do the same things next week and try to score a goal,” he mused. “When you play away from home you want to score a goal but that didn’t happen. We knew it was going to be tough beforehand because they are very technical, difficult to beat and don’t give many chances away.”
