West Bromwich Albion Have Jordon Ibe Inquiry Knocked Back

With Liverpool set to confirm the signing of Southampton wide-man Sadio Mane any time now, the future of a number of Reds attackers has been up for debate. While the big one remains that of Christian Benteke, the arrival of the pacey Senegalese winger also increases the size of the question mark over the head of youngster Jordon Ibe.

Watford FC has been heavily linked as a potential destination for the 20-year old, but West Bromwich Albion have emerged as rival suitors with the rumour mill reporting that they’ve had an inquiry for his services knocked back by the Anfield outfit with the Baggies reportedly planning to return with a loan offer. While that’s not quite as exciting as the new promo code for Netbet, it could be an opportunity for Ibe to get some real first team football under his belt as Liverpool keep an eye on his progress.

Tipped as the natural successor to Raheem Sterling, that prediction appears to have come true – but not in the way Liverpool fans were hoping. Following his big money move to Manchester City, the former Reds winger struggled to make an impact and has been heavily criticized for his performances at the European Championships with England this summer. Ibe, of course, has suffered a somewhat similar fate with his performances for the Anfield outfit underwhelming at best.

With that being said, the 20-year old scored a peach of a goal as the Reds drew 1-1 with the Baggies on the final day of the season that piqued the interest of boss Tony Pulis. Having released the likes of Victor Anichebe and Stephane Sessegnon and with Saido Berahino expected to leave the Hawthornes in the coming weeks, attacking options are in short supply at the Midlands club. It’s believed that Ibe remains in Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the future, but first team football could be in short supply over the coming campaign and a move to West Brom – if even for the short term – could work out well for all involved.
