Agent Talks Up English Interest, Werner Wants to Stay at Leipzig

The transfer window may be months away from opening for business, but the work of an agent is never done and with interest from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and neighbors Manchester United in Red Bull Leipzig forward Timo Werner cranking up, his agent has been on the horn talking to anyone who will listen about the versatile 21-year old.

“There is general interest from Premier League clubs,” said Karlheinz Forster, refusing to get in to specifics of who has their eyes on him. “The English are everywhere in the Bundesliga,” he told German media outlet Bild. They scout and track players intensively and Timo has made himself even more interesting with his performances and goals for Leipzig.”

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the club will be dipping into the market this summer and Werner is one of the names that has been gaining traction lately with the German manager reportedly tracking the pacey forward since his days with Borussia Dortmund. Now, with Leipzig capping their salaries and adhering to a very strict business model when it comes to players, Liverpool would almost certainly be willing to hand the 21-year old a hefty bump in his salary, but money and the bright lights of the Premier League aren’t for everyone.

“I want to keep growing together with RB Leipzig and keep developing here,” Werner told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag. “I am still only 21 years old and still have plenty of years ahead of me,” added the German, keen to play down a rumoured move away from the Bundesliga. “I am very happy at Leipzig. Joining this club has been a stroke of luck. I have found my way again under Ralph Hasenhuttl.”
