According to an exclusive story covered by Football Insider, Liverpool have set their signings on signing 17-year-old striker, Joe Gelhardt, who plays for Wigan Athletic.

Football Insider have further mentioned that the European Champions could secure his signing ahead of the winter transfer window as he would be a youth signing instead of a senior one.

In the last campaign, the teenager featured in 3 FA Youth Cup fixtures and scored as many goals.

Gelhardt made his debut first team appearance for Wigan last year in a league cup contest against Rotherham.

On the other hand, he played his first Championship game against Birmingham on 27th April and featured for 45 minutes.

Gelhardt netted a goal for Wigan during the team’s pre-season fixture vs Burnley. Moreover, in the current campaign, he made his first appearance vs Barnsley few days back and played for 27 odd minutes in a contest that ended 0-0. Recently, the young forward was called up for Three Lions’ U-18 side.
