Five changes – How Liverpool could line up vs Genk

Liverpool’s fantastic winning run in the Premier League was ended by Man United at the weekend and the Reds will look to get back to winning ways when they face Genk in the Champions League tomorrow night.

The Merseysiders are currently second in the group and three points will put them in a solid position to qualify for the KO stages of the competition.

Genk fought hard to earn a point against Napoli in their last CL game but overall, their form has been poor. In the Belgian league, they are 6th in the table and lost to Standard Liege at the weekend.

As far as Liverpool’s team news is concerned, Klopp must take into consideration that his players have to face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield next weekend. So, we can expect a few changes in the squad that started vs Man Utd at Old Trafford.

Salah missed the game vs the Red Devils but he has returned to the squad for tomorrow’s CL fixture (LFC). If 100% fit, the Egyptian should replace Origi and start with Firmino and Mane in the attack.

Liverpool lacked creativity in the center of the park when Man United opted to play 5 at the back. They blocked Klopp’s influential full-backs from getting forward. However, things improved when the likes of Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita came on the field and we found an equalizing goal.

In my view, the likes of Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain should replace Henderson and Wijnaldum to start in the central midfield vs Genk. Fabinho should retain his place as the team’s main holding midfield star.

As far as the back-line is concerned, Alexander-Arnold and Matip are not fit and hence, the duo are not part of the squad vs Genk. In their absence, Lovren could return to start in the central defense with Van Dijk, on the other hand, Gomez could return to start in the RB role. Brazilian shot stopper, Alisson, should start his first Champions League fixture of the current campaign.
