Live updates from the official site
We’re just under an hour away from kickoff at Anfield and news has come through that Daniel Agger has shaken off a “freak incident in the gym” to return to the starting line-up.

The Danish vice-Captain will partner Martin Skrtel in the heart of the Reds defense after the big Slovakian forced his way back into Brendan Rodgers plans. Mamadou Sakho makes his Anfield debut after impressing against Swansea on Monday, but the Frenchman will be pushed out to the left flank as Jose Enrique drops to the bench. There’s little surprise that England U-21 captain Andre Wisdom is sent back to the bench after a shaky night in Wales and will be replaced by the more experienced and fit again fan-favorite Kolo Toure.

There’s no reason to replace the in-form Simon Mignolet and the Belgian ‘keeper retains his place at the back, and as expected, Lucas, Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard keep their places in the middle of the park. Up top, it’s an attacking trifecta of Victor Moses, Daniel Sturridge and Iago Aspas receives a recall to the side to replace the injured Philippe Coutinho.

Brad Jones, Martin Kelly, Raheem Sterling, Jose Enrique, Andre Wisdom, JordanIbe and Luis Alberto all make up the bench.

On the other side, it’s Artur Boruc who will try to backstop the Saints to victory at Anfield, In front of the Polish ‘keeper will be Nathaniel Clyne, center back pairing José Fonte and Dejan Lovren as well as Luke Shaw who was a late decision. Victor Wanyama, Morgan Schneiderlin, Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez make up the Southampton midfield while Rickie Lambert and Daniel Osvaldo will be charged with finding Mauricio Pochettino’s sides first goal from open play this season.
