Maybe we’re a bit biased, in some respects anyways, but Jamie Carragher is on his way to becoming a top class pundit — and his recent chat with Brendan Rodgers for Sky Sports goes quite a way towards proving that.
This 20-minute interview, which followed the 4-0 thumping of cross-town rivals Everton, is a great bit of work with the former Liverpool defender pushing the Reds boss on such topics as his early days at the club, the emergence of Jordan Henderson as a key force in his setup and the way he handled the Luis Suarez debacle over the summer. In typical Carragher fashion, he also has a bit of a laugh when he traps Rodgers into mentioning him and the impact he made on his return to the starting eleven for the second half of last season.
It also comes as no surprise that the derby comes up — though Rodgers is probably a bit more humble about it than Carragher would be. “I think psychologically it was a big win but there is stil an awful long way to go” said the Reds boss. “There are still 15 games to go and a lot of work to do but certainly it helps your confidence.”
Have a watch…
