Fabio Borini Planning Liverpool Stay Despite Sunderland Interest

With the signing of former Southampton striker Rickie Lambert throwing the future of returning Reds attacker Fabio Borini even farther into question, the 23-year old’s agent has once again clarified his desire to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place in the squad.
“Does Lambert’s arrival close the door on Fabio Borini? No, I don’t think so,” Marco De Marchi told Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato. “We have received no communications in that regard.” With fellow misfit striker Iago Aspas looking like he’s bound for Spanish side Sevilla as part of the deal with Alberto Moreno, Borini could very well be at Anfield when the new season rolls around, but despite his impressive showing during his loan spell at Sunderland, it’s very likely that he’ll be at the bottom of the pecking order.
“In this last season, Fabio gave a considerable contribution towards keeping Sunderland up. “He was praised by everyone, especially by the Liverpool manager Rodgers” he continued. “So, after his holidays he will go back to Liverpool to prepare for the new season wearing the shirt of this historic club.” That is, if he’s not pulling on a different shirt by then.
Black Cat’s manager Gus Poyet is keen on bringing the Italian striker back to the Stadium of Light next season on either a permanent deal or an extension of his loan and is prepared to go in with a £10mil bid — something which could perk the ears of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman is believed to be hoping to raise somewhere in the region of £30mil from player sales this summer and should he allow his first signing as Liverpool boss to move to Weirside, he’d be a third of a way to his goal before the transfer window has even officially opened.
