Liverpool Hold “Productive” Suarez Talks with Barcelona

Making progress

At the end of day one of negotiations between Liverpool and Barcelona over the proposed sale of embattled Reds striker Luis Suarez, a senior source inside Anfield told the BBC that talks were “productive” but a deal had not yet been agreed between the two sides.

Although no official figures have been released — because, really, why would they? — some of the blerts on social media are predicting that the two sides are somewhere in the region of £20mil apart in their respective valuations and that the Spanish giants looking to snap up the 27-year old at a cut rate price due to his four month ban from everything football related. Again, since there’s nothing official to talk about, it’s hard to know exactly what’s going on, but it’s unlikely Liverpool is going to him leave on the cheap.

Talks apparently commenced early Wednesday in London between Red chief executive officer Ian Ayre and a delegation of Barcelona representatives. Rumour has it that the Anfield outfit is looking for somewhere in the region of £80mil for the 31-goal man or a cash plus player deal involving forward Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean’s future remains up in the air with the Catalan club confirming that bids have been recieved for the World Cup hot-shot, but whether he’ll be pulling on the famous red shirt in the near future is anyones guess.

“The talks held were productive,” a senior source close to negotiations told the BBC yesterday. “There are sensible expectations on both sides. Further talks and discussions will take place but no deal has yet been finalised.” It would appear that both sides are looking to conclude the deal early with Liverpool keen on dipping into the transfer market to make up for the departure of last season’s Premier League Player of the Year.
