Alberto Moreno’s Liverpool Move Hits Yet Another Snag

We seemed to be motoring along towards the signature of Sevilla fullback Alberto Moreno, but it looks like Liverpool may have hit yet another snag in the protracted transfer saga.

The two sides were at odds all summer over the valuation of the youngster with the La Liga outfit holding out for a fee belived to be in the region of £20mil — an amount that the Reds were unwilling to meet. Although it now appears that they’ve settled on a fee somewhere in the region of £16mil + add-ons, the payment structure is the new sticking point with Sevilla’s sporting director rubbishing claims that the move is on the verge of being completed.

“He’s training very well and preparing for a big game for Sevilla, and no more than that” Ramon Rodríguez Verdejo told the press ahead of their Super Cup clash with Real Madrid next Tuesday at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. “There is a club that do or have wanted him, but today we think that he will stay at Sevilla and play in the final in Cardiff.”

Although it’s been reported that Liverpool could complete the move in time for the new Premier League season, this latest revelation puts a bit of a damper on that expectation. Just when you thought all that craziness was coming to a head…
