Three Horse Race for Reds Striker Fabio Borini?

Last month it looked like Sunderland had all but wrapped up the transfer of Liverpool striker Fabio Borini after agreeing to a deal that could rise as high as £14mil over the next couple of years, but with the Italian holding out on completing the move to the Stadium of Light, it looks like other clubs have come sniffing around.
With the Anfield outfit wrapping up the £16mil transfer of his compatriot Mario Balotelli yesterday, Borini looks even more on the outs on Merseyside than he did before. Earlier on in the window, the 23-year old said that he wanted to stay and fight for his place, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious that there’s no place for him to fight for with both Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert ahead of him in the pecking order.
After selling Balotelli to Liverpool, AC Milan have apparently been angling to take ex-Red and current Chelsea striker Fernando Torres on loan. Although his agent has said there’s been no contact with any Italian clubs, if the seven time European champions are unable to wrap up a deal for the misfiring Spaniard in the next few days, they’re apparently going to move on to Borini who impressed during his time with fellow Serie A side AS Roma.
Apparently, they’ll have competition though with Sunderland still hopeful of completing a deal and La Liga side Atletico Madrid throwing their hat into the ring according to Sportitalia. The reigning Spanish champions are said to be interested in the 23-year old and are prepared to better the Black Cats bid with £14.3mil on the table for his services.
More on this as he goes on loan somewhere and we get squat.
