Raheem Sterling Set to Earn Mega Money with 5-Year Contract Extension

With the news that Steven Gerrard is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season still resonating out, the club is set to announce some good news in the coming days with reports emerging that the Reds have reached an agreement with star winger Raheem Sterling over a new long term deal.
The protracted talks between the two sides have been mired in rumour and speculation with the common theme being that the 20-year old and his representatives were holding out for more than the reported £70k per week that was on the table. While the common man would have snatched that up without a moments hesitation, Sterling balls so hard that he was holding out for a pay packet somewhere in the region of a nice, round £100k — something it looks like he’s going to get in a big, big way.
With Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini failing to inspire confidence in Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers in the absence of star man Daniel Sturridge, the Reds winger has steadily begun his transformation into a striker, and he’s found some joy in his new found role with Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho playing just behind him in a revamped system.
Whether or not he’ll be playing there when we have a real goalscorer back in the squad is a conversation for another day, but if the reports in the media are to be believed, he’ll be wearing the famous red shirt for the next five years with the club investing heavily in the youngster’s future. Much like the recent extension signed by Sturridge, the 20-year old will have a contract packed full of incentives, which will surely answer the question of whether or not more money really does cause more problems.
More on this when pen goes on paper…
