Man Utd ready to secure signing of star who wants Liverpool move

Liverpool and Man Utd are heavily linked with German international and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

As per an exclusive story covered by Mirror Football, Man Utd are ready to make an offer in the January transfer window to hijack Liverpool’s move for the 23-year-old center forward.

News – Liverpool backed to sign £290,000-a-week star

The renowned news source have claimed that the German Bundesliga goal-scorer was heavily linked with a move to champions Bayern Munich in the summer but eventually stayed with Leipzig and agreed a new deal with them, which has a release clause of £27million.

Mirror Sport have further mentioned that Liverpool have stars like Mane, Salah and Firmino and would ideally like to lure Werner next year (perhaps this means next summer) but United believe they can secure his signing in winter by offering him regular starts at Old Trafford.

Few days back, transfer expert, Ian McGarry (via The Daily Star) claimed that Liverpool have opened talks to sign Werner, who wants to move to Anfield to play under Klopp.

Furthermore, Duncan Castles – The Times and The Daily Record journalist – thinks that the Reds have a better chance of signing the Kaiser as compared to the Red Devils because Solskjaer’s men are struggling and cannot offer attractive football (via The Daily Star).

This season, the 28-capped striker has directly contributed in 12 goals in just 10 league appearances for Leipzig under 32-year-old manager Julian Nagelsmann (Transfermarkt).

Back in August, Werner scored a fantastic hattrick away from home against Borussia Monchengladbach, who are currently leading the Bundesliga after 10 fixtures. Moreover, on Saturday, the German star registered a hattrick of goals and assists against Mainz in a contest that Leipzig won 8-0.

In the end, we’ll have to wait and see what the player decides. For now, our front three are irreplaceable and the 4-3-3 system under Jurgen Klopp is working perfectly well.

Have your say – Where will Timo Werner fit in if he does end up moving to Anfield?
